How do BARLEY STRAW POUCHES work ? Natural decomposition of the straw micro-organisms give rise to algal inhibitors (hydrogen peroxide) which is completely harmless to wildlife and pets. Please note that water temperatures need time to rise for the build up of this inhibitor, and that it is best to start treatment as soon as possible in the spring before the algae itself has chance to build up. Each pouch will treat 800 gallons (3500 litres / 130 cubic feet) of water. Packed in 2 pouches per bag with full instructions.
